In order to attract more customers, the store hired local artist Barry Forman to paint a pair of gigantic legs on the second floor windows, complete with fishnet stockings and red high heels. These legs have now become a neighborhood icon and a major attraction for the store, known as “the store with the legs.” The legs are also featured in San Francisco’s Madame Tussauds wax museum.
